Design Consultation |
The design consultation meeting normally lasts about 2 hours and I would like to schedule it during the day at your home with you and your spouse if married. During this meeting I will evaluate your existing home & property for the best location of the addition. I would then make a detailed list of your needs and wants (design program)
and begin to approximate room sizes adjacency criteria, where to gain access to addition, roof lines, window location, views Etc. Because I go into so much detail in the first meeting I charge a design consultation fee of $350. If you would only like to
see my portfolio in my office there would be no charge.
At this time in the consultation I would attempt to develop a preliminary construction budget and outline a list of my services and fees. All renovation projects begin with documenting the existing conditions, (photos and "As Built" plans and elevations) a good design program and verbal description of a proposed design solution. This is the basis for development of sketch plans leading up to our first design review meeting.
The mark up of these plans and adding more detail allows me to develop the project into CAD (computer aided design) modeling. This is where the fun begins. You will be able to see the design in full color and 3D from any location within or outside of the project. I use a video projector off of my lap top and 3' x 6' screen. I give you a laser pen as a pointer and my CAD designer in a remote office is on line using a web site called http://gotomeeting.com. We then will be looking at his desk top and can make changes to the design live before your eyes.
